Root Canal

In certain situations, a tooth may require further treatment to avoid extraction. When the nerve of a tooth becomes painful or infected, it may require root canal treatment.

Root canal treatment, or endodontic treatment, involves removing the inflamed or infected nerve from the root canal space within the tooth. Once the nerve has been removed, the root canal space is cleaned and shaped to prepare it for a filling. After the tooth has been root canal treated, it is often weaker as tooth structure has been removed to access the nerve. In certain cases, a crown or cast restoration is indicated to prevent the tooth fracturing during normal chewing and use of the tooth.

At OB Dental, we will assess your particular situation and determine whether or not root canal treatment is necessary. If root canal treatment is required, sometimes you may need a referral on to an Endodontist (Root Canal Specialist), other times, we can carry out the procedure at OB Dental.

We always aim to complete root canal treatment in a pain-free way. Oftentimes patients actually fall asleep during the procedure!

Dental Bridge

A dental bridge is a type of dental restoration which can be used a replace one or more missing teeth. Where a tooth is missing, the neighbouring tooth or teeth can be used as an abutment or anchor for the bridge. Bridges can be either ‘Conventional ‘ or ‘Resin Bonded’

Your suitability for a dental bridge can be discussed and assessed with the dentist during your dental examination.

Dental Crowns

A dental crown is a cast restoration that is made to fit over a tooth. Crowns can be made of various materials including porcelain, gold, stainless steel and other materials.

A crown may be indicated to restore the function and appearance of a tooth that has had root canal treatment, trauma, a large filling or extensive decay or fracture.

If a crown is indicated, this will be discussed with you and the most appropriate option will be selected for your individual needs.

She was very kind and patient throughout my appointment and made me feel extremely comfortable. A super dentist and one i see using for many years to come.

A root canal can help save a damaged or infected tooth, prevent the need for extraction, and restore optimal oral health and function.
Our team take all necessary precautions to ensure that you are comfortable during the root canal procedure. We use local anaesthesia to numb the area around the affected tooth, and we may offer other options to help you relax.

At OB Dental we recognise that some people feel a level of anxiety with visiting the dentist. We make every effort to ensure you are as comfortable as possible during your root canal procedure.
Implant crowns are dental crowns that are attached to dental implants, which are surgically placed into the jawbone to replace missing teeth.
